RABBIT SKINS

' DTJNEDIN SALE. K HEX COM PET! TIG Nf. Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Dunedin), report as follows: ■Coinpcl Ltion at our lost sale- was again keen, and prices showed little alteration. Spottods and bucks were slightly lower, but any change in prices can be put down to the depreciation in the quality of the skins offered. All outgoing grades sold exceptionally well, and milky does brought 37Jd and springs 42fd. The high prices now ruling for summer skins are going to make summer trapping very payable, and we strongly advise all trappers to continue to send their skins to our auction sales throughout the summer. After the next sale, auction sales will be held monthly instead of fortnightly. In many districts care will have to be taken to prevent the attacks of weevils, and for this purpose naphthalene will be found most effective. We. can supply this at 1/ per lb. In presenting our last report for the season, we would like to thank all our clients for their staunch support throughout the season. The very mild winter affected the quality of most skins considerably, but we think our classing has given very general satisfaction. The fact that we are the largest selling brokers of rabbit skins in Dunodin is good proof of this. There seems nothing in the present condition of affairs to warrant any drop in pricess in the future, and we look forward to another season of high prices next year. Following are prices realised:—

'Runners and suckers up to 2Gi!d; light racks 37$d; summers 37 Ad; heavy racks ')sil; prime racks 39:{d; early autumns 54|{d; late autumns (50d; incoming winters (55d; early winter bucks 743 d; early winter does 72d; winter bucks 70Ad; winter does (i.jjd; first winter bucks S7d; first winter does S2d; spotted winters 5Sd; outgoing does 593 d; winter fawns (i7d; winter blacks 07jd; autumn blacks 4bid; autumn broken 39Ad_: winter broken 45jd; milky 37Ad; springs 42:fd; hareskins 25d; horsehair 2.1.:{d; opossum skins 15/ eaet.
