QUEEN CARNIVAL
THE CITIZENS. STRONG- COMMITTEE FORMED. The meeting of citizens held in tho Council Chambers on Saturday evening, although not largely attended, was very enthusiastic determining it their purpose to organise a strong committee and enter a queen candidate in the Band Queen Carnival. Mr T. F. Richards presided and briefly explained the purpose of the meeting. On the motion of Messrs E. Veale and W. Richmond it was decided to enter a candidate as the citizens’ representative. Provisional Committee.
The following were elected a provisional committee: —Messrs T. F. Richards, E. Veale, W. Richmond, T. A. Hicks, \V. Garland and C. Boyce. With the aforementioned and the following subject to their approval were elected to form the permanent committee with power to add:—'Messrs A. E. Peppercorn, H. Williams, Chas. Clark, F. Mack, L. M. Monin, F. Weatherell, F. S. Veale, H. Speight, A. B. Hodgson, A. W. Gane, F. Penn, W. J. White, B. H. Bishop, N. Tt. Souter, W. McVeagh, C. W. Dunmore, K. Reeves and Reluill, Mesdames J. W. Garland, A. W. Gane, J. .1. Collis, O. Gane, G. H. Bellamy, H. Ferguson, 11. Vaiise-and Miss \'. Garland. The appointment of a queen candidate to represent the citizens was held over to be decided when the full committee meets.
