HAPPINESS AND HEALTH.

The secret of the ,Sphinx, “the riddle of life;” is. at least partly solved for us, if we can replv successfully, “how to attain happiness.’ ’ How few there are who have not paused to consider whether “life was worth living,” or in other words, whethe; ’.heir relationship with others was entirely satisfactory. Our happiness depends more upon our attitude towards those among whom we dwell, than upon the pomp and circumstance of fate. There ;re two essentials in our mind that will do much towards creating, for one and all —health and happiness. Fi’vtly, * well tor us to realise that our emo ions are contagious and our thoughts mo very largely due to the creative faculties of other minds. Therefore, it we desire happiness in each other ('h* 1 undeniable birthright of every human) we must first recognise the law oi Brotherhood, and our responsibilities towards others. If our desires and ‘houghis arc directed to the making happy of others less fortunate than ourselves, ti e more readily do we respond to all happy thoughts and influences, and the more effectively do wo transfer happiness to others. By endeavouring t<> work out our earthly existence upon these i res so surely shall we reap a greater portion of happiness. The. search, tor health is far easier for the average person and if for many it slip from their grasp it is mostly due to carelessness. In these da vs every facility is ottered men and women to improve or keep their general health up fo standard with the aid of healthy outdoor exerei-.es, such as swimining, tenuis, crorimt, bowling, cricket, and football. Tu jambridge we are particularly fortunate and for those who possess an ordinary share of health, there is no reason wliv health should not he maintained and improved. As was demonstrated on Saturday last, when various official openings took place. Cambridge is fortunately sit.uat-

e,l in the provision of outdoor exercise,

and it is indeed pleasing to observe that Cambridge folk are 'nereasing in the numbers taking part in outdoor games. Every little community in the district has its tennis club, showing an in creasing nunibep of participants, while in the Borough tho same feature may be observed in the bowling, tennis and croquet clubs. In this we should be thankful as it indicates there is increasing chances of improving our already splencld record as a healthy inland town and community. We should do all in our power to assist our district outdoor games, as they are providing the healthy, life-giving activity that has been the pride of the Britisher for centimes, and he that cannot participate or take a lively interest in such pastimes —well there must be something wrong in that human's make-up and wo strongly advise him to put his human house in order—to set about searching for better health. No better medium may be found than participation in tho healthy exercises we have enumerated in the foregoing.
