LAUNCH SWAMPED.

OPAWA BOY DROWNED

(By Telegraph —Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

In a fierce northerly gale raging on the coast yesterday the launch Toitoi was swamped off Adderley. Head, and a passenger, Clarence Edward Barter, 15 years of age, residing with his parents at Martin’s Road, Opawa, was drowned, while two Maoris who landed through the surf on to the rocks, narrowly escaped being dashed to pieces.
