LIVE STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— Wo held sales during the past week at Westficld and Papakura. We report an improved demand for dairy cows and heifers, also an improved demand for 18-months to 24-year steers. All other classes of cattle selling at late quotations. We quote:—Best cows and heifers £8 10/ to £ll 10/; others £4 to £8; aged cows and inferior heifers £2 to £3 17/6; bulls £1 10/ to £6 6/ according to weight and quality; empty cows £1 5/ to £2 7/6; yearling to 18-months -heifers £1 to £2 10/; odd pens of 18-months heifers, Jersey £2 el7/6 to £4; yearling to 18-months steers £1 10/ to £2 7/6; 2 to 24-year steers £2 10/ to £3 15/; 3 to 34-year steers £4 to £4 17/6; 4 to 5-year steers £5 to £5 17/6; grown steers in forward condition £6 to £7 5/. At Wcstfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in average number; competition was steady throughout, with prices slightly easier than last week's sale. We quote:— Extra, choice oxen to 28/ per lOOlbs; choice and prime oxen 22/ to 27/ per lOOlbs; plain and unfinished oxen 17/ to 21/ per lOOlbs; young cow and heifer beef 22/ to 25/ per lOOlbs; ather cow beef 17/ to 20/ per lOOlbs; rough beef 12/ to 16/ per lOOlbs. No extra heavy prime steers were penned.
