“LEST WE FORGET.”

(To the Editor)

Sir, —I notice with astonishment, regret and disgust, that the unveiling ceremony of. our memorial is to bo regarded by our business people, at the invitation of the Mayor, as a sort of passing show. The sacrifice of so many gallant comrades from this district surely warrants that respect and commemoration that is entirely lost while the wheels of business-life rotate. I enter through your columns a strong appeal on behalf of many returned men to have this day held as one of honour Iri the valiant dead, and that the solemn influences of such a ceremony bc""»pt marred by "business as usual." ■—f kirn, etc., RETURNED SOLDIER. Cambridge, December 7, 1923.
