Sir, —I notice with astonishment, regret and disgust, that the unveiling ceremony of. our memorial is to bo regarded by our business people, at the invitation of the Mayor, as a sort of passing show. The sacrifice of so many gallant comrades from this district surely warrants that respect and commemoration that is entirely lost while the wheels of business-life rotate. I enter through your columns a strong appeal on behalf of many returned men to have this day held as one of honour Iri the valiant dead, and that the solemn influences of such a ceremony bc""»pt marred by "business as usual." ■—f kirn, etc., RETURNED SOLDIER.
