JUNIOR MATCHES On account of the senior rein matc.li, only junior and third-grade matches wore plaved locally on Saturuay, the games being played al Leamington. The junior match between City and Leamington was a close contest and was keenly watched by the good eiowd of spectators present. MONAVALE V. HAUTAL’U This game was a poor exhibition of! football. Although both teams were willing, the game was scrappy, there being little combination on ebher side. LEAMINGTON This was a much brighter game and as City and Leamington are the two leading teams in the junior championship, much interest was taken in the game. Right from the kick-off Leamington pressed hard and kept up their attack throughout the game. Howevei, the City boys played hard and put, up a good fight. In the first quarter Leamington was awarded a try on account of Douglas being obstructed by . Kelly and being prevented from scoring. The attempt at goal failed. There, was no further score in the first half, though Learnington had a kick at goal from a penalty. During the third quarter there were two tries secured for Leamington —by Hall and Russo, respectively. Neither kick was successful. In the last quarter the City boys were tiring and Leamington continued to press, Cunningham scoring for Leamington. This time Nickle converted. Soon afterwards the game ended, the score being, Leamington .14; City 0. Mr H. Vause made an excellent referee. HIGH SCHOOL V. LEAMINGTON The above third-grade match was played at the same time as the Mona-vale-llaiifcapu match, and ended in a win for Leamington by 13 points to 7. Mr A. Entwisle acted as referee.
