NEW MINISTER
ONE VACANCY FILLED
MR R. F. BOLLARD PRACTICALLY
A CERTAINTY
Tho Auckland Star’s Wellington correspondent wires that Mr Massey appears to have made up his mind as to his new Minister. After his caucus mooting his choice apparently lay between Mr J. A. Young, of Hamilton, and Mr R. F. Bollard, of Raglan. The Premier has solved the problem by following precedent by the elevation of the party Whip to the Ministry, for it is practically certain that Mr Bollard will receive the Ministerial position.
Mr Bollard seldom finds his voice in the House, but he has rendered good service to his party, and is a man of pleasant personality. He probably will take the portfolio of Native Affairs.
Mr Bollard entered the House in 1911 as member for Raglan. His father', the late Mr John Bollard, for 20 years represented Eden. Still another Ministerial appointment is possible, but not probable this session.
The Chairman of Committees is not yet settled, but it will probably be offered to Mr Isitt (Christchurch East).
