SOCIAL PUNCTIONS

On Saturday evening Miss Zeta Poole, who is being moved from the Bank of New Zealand, Cambridge, to Auckland, gave a most enjoyable picture party to a number of her friends and afterwards adjourned to a most rechere supper, given by Mrs D. Lundon. Amongst those present wereYMrs D. Lundon, Mrs G. G. Taylor, MriNv. H. Beed, Mrs F. Swaync, Misses Z. Poole, H... Taylor, M.Harris, Y. Garland, McLoughlin, Edgclow, Cox/E. Soutcr, Swaync, and J. Thompson. 1 On Saturday afternoon Mr and Mrs E. Hannon entertained a few friends at tennis to celebrate the birthday of Mr Hannon and Mr H. Crowther. Amongst those present were Dr and Mrs ,Stapley,.Mr and Mrs, Norman Banks, Mr and Mrs H. Crowther, Mr and Mrs Nicoil, Mrs Andrews (from Ba, Fiji), and Mr' M. Wells. On Wednesday Mrs A. H. Nicoil gave an afternoon tea for Miss Brooks, and although the weather was very threatening tennis was indulged in all afternoon. A dainty tea Avas served in the dining room. Mrs Nicoil received her guests in a primrose floral voile and a henna, hat. Amongst those present were Mrs N. Banks and Miss T. Banks, Mrs Mervyn Wells, Mrs .E. Hannon, Jim Mortimer-Jones, Misses Brooks, Hew itt, Banks, Willis, Cox, Souter, G-wyn-' nelh.

WEDDING BELLS

BROWN—STEENSON A small but charming wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening last, when Miss Blanche, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Steenson, of Bruntwood, was married to Mr. William Allan, eldest sou of Mr and Mrs A. E. Brown, of Whangarei, late of Leamington.. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. H. Rosevcare, and Miss Elsie Davys presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, was sweetly dressed in a cream crepe 'dc chine frock with pearl trimmings, with wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of white cosmas and lilies. Her bridesmaid, Miss Winifred Brown, of Auckland, was very attractively attired in >.a flame coloured organdie frock, with a wreath of same shade -in place of a hat, and was carrying a posie of Freneh marigolds covered with red net. Mr C. Andrews, of T'e Aroh.a, acted as best man. & .-'. The reception was held at the "Triangle" tea rooms, where the relatives and a few old frieiids were entertained at a wedding supper. The tables for same were artistically decorated by McDevitt and her assistants with a colour scheme of red and white. The usual toasts were given. ■ The guests_Ayere received by Mrs J. Steenson and Mrs A,-E., Brown, the former .wearing a navy costume with a violet toque, the latter in a silver grey frock embroidered with emerald green and a hot silk toque,. fuchsia shade, both carrying posies.
