In connection with the herd-testing movement initiated by the Waikato district of the Fanners' Union, a HerdTesting Association was formed on Monday in Hamilton at a meeting of representatives of interested bodies. The chair was occupied by Mr W. V. Kirk-man (New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Co.), others present including Messrs W. Paul (Winter Show Association), Baxter (A. and P. Association), Saxby and Missen (Jersey Breeders' Association), "Ranstead (Milking Shorthorn Association), Magnor (To Ivowhai branch, Farmers' Union), and Schmitt (district organiser).

It was decided to form an association under the style of the Waikato Farmers' Union Herd-testing Association, and those present, with the addition of Messrs J. S. Fisher, A. H. Clemen, and A. W. Green, were constituted a committee to set the machinery in motion immediately, on the lines of the scheme ' previously published in the Waikato Times. Mr A. Schmitt was

appointed secretary. Already upwards of 1500 cows have been signed up for in the To Kowhai district, and in view of the interest manifested there, a similar development is expected in the Orini district. The scheme will be in operation in full time for the coming season, and already about 40 applications have been received for, positions as herdtesters. —Waikato Times.
