ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIP

FIRST DAY’S PLAY The Cambridge annual golf championship opened on Thursday last in ideal golfing weather. A medal handicap was played in the morning and was won by A. Boyce, with 77 nett. A. H. Xicoli was second with 79. The following were the best cards returned: —A. Boyce, 89, less .12, 77; A. H. Xicoli, 89, less 10, 79; A. W. Gillies, 90, less 9, SI; J. C. Sawors, 97, less 10, 81; 11. B. Nelson, 92, less 9, S 3; 8. Ellis, 94, less 8, 80; D. Banks, 90, less 10, SO; A, Bond, 99, less 12, 87; A. Howdcn, 95, less 7, 88; W. Vickers, .100, less .12, SS; Dr. Price, 112, less 24, 88; F. Bogey Competition In the afternoon a bogey competition resulted in a tie between A. H. Xicoli and X. Banks, who both finished .1 up. The following were the best bogey cards returned: —A. 11. Xicoli and X. Banks (tie), 1 up; W. Vickers, all square; A. W. Gillies, 3 down; E. Ellis, 3 down, J. Sawers, 3 down; F. Wilkie, 3 down; A. Boyce, 3 down; R. George, 4 down; Dr Milsom, 4 down; F. Banks, 2 up; A. H. Nicoll beat A. W. Gillies, 3 up and 2 to play; R. George beat. Dr Milsonr, 5 up and 4 to play.
