ENTERTAINMENTS

TOWN HALL PICTURES “THE MAN OF TH.E FOREST” A picture programme of special interest will be screened on " Monday night, when Zane Grey’s latest novel, “The Man of the Forest” will be showing. This book lends itself admirably for screen production. A special feature of this picture is the wonderful acting done by the animals. There is a beautiful love story running through the picture, and the scenery of the great North-west, coupled with the wonderful horsemanship displayed, never fail .to rouse the enthusiasm of the public, especially as the riders are dressed in picturesque attire. As an extra attraction, the popular artist, Bert Lytell, will be seen in abig six-reel drama, “The Misleading Lady.” This talented actor has appeared in a number of screen productions and in none has ho failed to impart a decidedly brilliant atmosphere through his characterisations, which are always a departure, from, the expected and the usual. It is., said that in this picture, where he is a woman-hater Who suddenly takes it into his head to teach a society girl what primative emotion is, he surpasses even his past efforts—and they were exceptionally; good. • - • ) “ ‘ ‘ OVER. THE HILL. ’ ’ On Tuesday, August Bth, the long looked for and much discussed picture, “Over the Hill,” will be screened. The plan is now open at Congalton’s. We should advise early booking, as Mr Morriu tells us that it is one of the few times he had been asked to open the plan so early. There will be a special matinee in the afternoon for country friends and the children. ODDFELLOWS’ DANCE The Cambridge Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) are holding a dance social in their hall on' Tuesday evening next, as advertised. Orchestral music will be supplied, and supper provided.
