CLAUDELANDS STOCK SALE

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Claudelands sale on Thursday last we had a large entry of cattle, the majority being dairy, stock, and an average yarding of sheep'and pigs: The beef, which consisted solely of cows, and mutton brought good competition, beef showing a marked improvement, which was also reflected in the store pigs. All cows suitable for graziers made 15/ to £1 better than at recent sales. Among the dairies were some nice quality Jersey heifers, but a little on the small side. For these and other heifers there were ready buyers, but the cows, with a few exceptions, were only ordinary quality and were rather dull of sale. With the young cattle there was a good sale, Jersey yearlings attracting most attention. There were not'sufficient fat pigs yarded to enable outside buyers to operate, the prices realised being quite up to ruling values, All store pigs sold well. We quote: Fat ewes 20/9 to 25/ for extra prime; a few odd prime sheep £1 7/ to £1 10/.
