CAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD
TE MIRO ROADS ,(«[*>■ • 'iV .> (,■>''•;' A CORRECTION In our report in last Saturday's issue of the meeting of the Cambridge Road Board reference was made to an opinion given by the Board's solicitors, Messrs Lewis and Dallimore, to the effect that the land in the To M'iro .Settlement, being Crown Land, is not ratable, with the exception of those portions of which the freehold has been sold. »*«*»**<£" We now find that our report of the legal opinion was incomplete, and have been asked tto point out that the opinion stated that Crown Land is liable to pay any special rate to which the land was subject at the time the Crown ac-. quired it, that such parts as are occupied by a lessee or licensee are liable to bo rated as against the occupier, and land which was at one .. time Crowa land but of which the freehold has been sold is of course ratable in the usual way. . ,
