SUICIDE BY POISONING CAUSED BY DEPRESSION (By Telegrapli—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, yesterday. At the inquest on Donny Tobin, farmer, of Morton-Mains, who was found dead in Rose Gardens, evidence showed the man was in ill-health. He purchased strychnine from a chemist, stating that he required it to poison rats. A verdict was returned that deceased died from the effects of poison, selfadministered whilst in a state of great depression. He leaves a widow and six children. BEQUEST TO ORPHANAGES TWO GET £5900 EACH (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, yesterday. Under the will of the late Mrs Jane Tutton, of Papanui, the Presbyterian Orphanage and St. Saviour’s (Anglican) Orphanage in Christchurch, became the residuary legatees of her estate. The governing bodies of the Orphanages are informed that the residue of the estate will be approximately £II,SOO, which will be divided by the residuary legatees. Algar, captain of the Poneke Club, dislocated hia shoulder for the second time this season. Last year he was laid aside mast of the time by an injured leg. A body found in the sea near Taylor’s Mistake, Sumner, has been identified as that of Miss Kate Lane, 57 years of age, who had been missing from her home in Armagh Street since Tuesday. SUICIDE BY HANGING THE RESULT OF WORRY (By Telegraph—Press Association) ROTORUA, yesterday. An inquest was held at Ngongotaha into the death of Hugh Head, drover, a single man aged 23, who was found hanging on a willow tree near his parents’ residence. The evidence disclosed that the deceased was much worried by an accusation as to the paternity of an illegitimate child which was made against him and which he had denied. The jury returned a verdict that death was caused by strangulation caused by the deceased hanging himself while in a state of unsound mind.
