CAMBRIDGE CAMPAIGN f N PADDY’S MARKET TO BE HELD A meeting of the committee recontly set up to raise money to assist the Russian Famine Relief Fund w r as held at the Borough Council Chamber, Cambridge, last night, when there were present: Mr A. H. Gascoigne (DeputyMayor) presiding, Rev. J. D. ; -McArthur, Messrs H. Alan Bell, Geo. E. Clark, A. W. Gane, T. F. Richards, J. W. Cocks, and Frank Penn. Apologies were received for the absence of tho Mayor, Rev. Father Kirrane, Rev. T. H. Roseveare, and Messrs A. Willis, W. Stopford and A. Hopkirk. Tho chairman stated that although it might be an inopportune ti D JQ t<? prqke a money-raising effort, they were pledged to do their best for this object, and-, he felt the need was so very urgent that they should set to work without delay. The opinion had been expressed j —and Mr Gascoigne said he agreed w with this view—that they should not \ resort to a house-to-house canvass, but a suggestion had been ,made that a Paddy’s Market be held.

After discussion it was resolved that the main effort take the shape of a Paddy’s Market, to be held in the Town Hall at an early date. Mr A. W. Gane was elected secretary and treasurer of the committee, and the following were added to the general committee: —Messrs H. W. Maekereth. Fred. Baker, L. M. Morrin, W. J. Andrews, H. Alan Bell, J. Ambury, M. Butler, R. Ncweombo, J. S. Fisher, Mervyn Wells, W. D. Simpson, W. Harbutt, A. W. Scott and Allan Fisher. A ladies’ committee was set up, comprised of the following ladies, with power to add to their number: —Mesdames R. Reynolds, A. W. Gane, S. Lewis (convener), A. H. Gascoigne, M. Wells and W. J. White. The chairman and secretary were deputed to attend a meeting of the ladies ’ committee, and decide as to date of the special effort, and also to interview Mr Morrin re an entertainment on behalf of the funds. An executive committee was set up comprising Messrs A. H. Gascoigne, H. A. Bell, A. W. Gane, Geo. E. Clark, T. F. Richards, J. W. Cocks and Frank Penn.
