ALLEGED SEDITION

CABINET TAKES ACTION BISHOP LISTON TO BE PROSECUTED. The Cabinet has decided that Dr J. M. Liston, Roman Catholic CoadjutorBishop of Auckland, shall be prosecuted on a charge of seditious utterances on the occasion of his speech in the Town Hall on the evening of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th. This statement was made by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey. He said, the Government was acting on the report received from the Crown Law Offices, to whom Dr Liston’s speech was referred by the Minister for Justice, the Hon. E. P. Lee.
