Information has been received by the police from Rlverhead to the effect that Mr Arthur Taylor, who was staying at the Riverhead Hotel, went for a bathe in the river on Saturday and could not be found subsequently. At about 5 p.m. yesterday, a boy, Herbert Edward Mottershaw, aged 8, who lives with his father in Boundary road, Claudelands, was killed in Claude Street, Claudelands, through the wheel of a heavily-laden lorry, driven by Mr William Waite, carrier, Grey Street, Claudelands, passing over his head. From what can be gleaned it appears that the unfortunate lad attempted to board the lorry and slipped. The left rear wheel showed a clot of matter on the outside of the felloe, and. also a bloodstain on the tyre. It is understood that another boy who witnessed the tragedy is prepared to say that deceased was riding on the brake.
