THE CHILDREN'S BALL

ANNUAL FUNCTION

A PHENOMENAL SUCCESS

(By our Lady Reporter).

On Monday tlic long-talked-of party for the children was held in the Town Hall from four to eight p.m., and proved a huge success. The hall had been decorated with bunting and festoons of coloured electric bulbs; and in the supper-room • were six tables, each arranged to seat sixteen little people. The tables were a perfect pic-

ture. ach had ,a large bowl of flowers

in the centre and the rest of the table crowded with lovely eatables to gladden the hearts of the tiny children. At five the tiny tots were taken in tL tea, and then the next in order of/age until all were served. It is estimated that nearly three hundred children were present, besides all the fond fathers and mothers. The pro- ' infoters of the entertainment were Mesdames S. Lewis (Mayoress), Lee, White and Souter, with a sub-committee under them, and they all worked like trojans to make it the success it was. The entertainment opened with the grand march, which showed off the fancy dresses to advantage. There

were so many of uniform excellence, it would bo invidious to mention any in

particular. When the electric lights were switched on with the coloured bulbs, the hall was transformed into a veritable fairy land.
