MATCH HAMILTON DEFEATS CAMBRIDGE The junior representative match, Hamilton v. Cambridge, was a fairly even game, there not being so much between the teams, as the score 19 to nil in favour of Hamilton would appear to indicate.- The first score by Watkins was the result of a nice passing rush. Cotter' was unsuccessful with the kick. Shortly afterwards,, when Hamilton was coming dangerously near the blues’ line, Russo saved for Cambridge, and the visitors’ forwards rushed, play up field. Their efforts, however, were nullified by a knock-on. Latei on in the game Carter secured a mark in a most advantageous position, and dropped a goal. Brown scored in a handy position, for Hamilton, Jamieson succeeding with the kick. Towards the end of the first half Cambridge were quite holding tlieir own. Shortly after the spell Cambridge swept down on the home side, but a timely kick by a Hamilton back put them on the defensive again. A lucky passing bout ended in Porter crossing the Cambridge line, Carter converting. Before the call of time Watkins scoied another try, which Hooper failed to convert, and the game ended with the scores, Hamilton 19, Cambridge nil. THE LEAGUE GAME CAMBRIDGE V. HAMILTON WIN FOE HOME TEAM A SPLENDID EXHIBITION . The large number of people who assembled at the Square on Saturday to witness the rep. League match, Hamilton v. Cambridge, spent a capital afternoon, the match being fast, exciting and full of incident, and the result was iu doubt right up to the call of time. The home boys, who showed excellent .form, won bv the narrow margin of 18 points to 16. The teams were: —Cambridge: Cornaga, Pau, Hemmingway, Carrol, Church, Stewart, Mclvor, McMillan, Coe, Meehan, Hill, Williams, Kidd. Hamilton: Dufty, Cronin, Monagetti, Bullcraig, Fitzgerald, Smith, Cherry, Neil, Priekett, Dent, Payne, Walters, Bass.

Give and take play was the order of the day at the commencement, and then, after a good bit of play, McMillan scored for Cambridge, Hemmingway failing to convert. Soon, after, from a combined passing rush, Stewart got the ball in a good position, and, passing to Melvor, the latter raced across the line. Though the score was between the posts the kick at goal was a miserable failure. Hamilton now woke up and soon after, getting the ball from a seruih, Cherry handled the ball to Smith, who scored a good try, which Dufty converted, making the score Cambridge 6, Hamilton 5. Cambridge came again, and, amidst great excitement, scored two further tries in quick sucesssion, both the result of fine concerted play —-both scored by Carroll. Neither was converted. Hamilton attacked for a time, but the home boys were again on the warpath, and, as a result of smart following up and good judgment, Stewart got over the line. Again the major points were not added. From this time Hamilton played with much more determination, and with better results. After a good rush, Smith got over the line at the corner, amt Dufty kicked a fine goal. Hamilton 8, Cambridge 15. CAMBRIDGE B WINS THE BANNER The final match in the Public Schools Saturday morning when Cambridge B Rugby Competition was played last Saturday morning, when Cambridge B team defeated Leamington by 3 points to nil after an interesting game. The play was remarkably even throughout, each side in turn taking a hand in the attack. Cambridge appeared to have some advantage in weight and were able to dominate the tight work but the Leamington boys stuck to their task gamely. The only score was an easy try by Glanvilles who followed up a kick fait and touched down, while the Leamington fullback was strolling leisurely towards the ball. For the winners McFarlanc and Anderson wore the most prominent'backs, but Glanville and Bellamy also did good work, while Peterson at fullback was fairly safe. Among the forwards Pollard, Ferguson and James were often conspicuous, while Foster worked hard in the tight. For Leamington Bluck, May and N. Morse were the best of the backs, but McKinnon and .E. Blow also did well. Hastie appeared to be off colour. Gill at fullback was generally safe but spoiled his good record by making Gian villo a present of the winning try. Among the forwards Atkinson, Brittain and A. Blow deserve special mention while L. Morse and Luckimm also did. well. Mr W. Webber was referee and his action in leaving work to assist the boys was much appreciated by the teachers.
