HORSE TAKES FRIGHT
WHILE ATTACHED TO TRAP TE MI PC) LADY HURT A horse attached |o a trap driven by Mrs W. J. Elliott, of To Miro, was responsible for some little excitement in Grosvenor Street yesterday morning. Mrs Elliott was giving the animal a drink at a trough in that vicinity, and was. driving away when the front wheel came into violent contact. with an obstacle at the side uf the road, breaking a shaft. The jolt frightened the animal, which suddenly careered along Thornton Road at a furious pace. Mrs Elliott’s baby, which was with her at the time, was thrown out. of the vehicle, but, fortunately, was not injured. Mrs Elliott, however, fared rather unhappily, and was thrown on to the road, breaking a bone in the. hand as an outcome of the fall.
The injured lady was carried into Mr Miller’s residence near by. Dr Stapley who was summoned immediately rendered the necessary medical attention, and Mrs Elliott, though suffering considerably from shock, was shortly afterwards able to return- to her home.
The trap was not damaged to any great extent.
