CHINESE WOMEN
COMING TO THE DOMINION. 1
WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN? . ,
Not only is there a considerable influx of Chinamen into New Zealand but recent steamer passenger lists show that a fairly large number’ o£ Chinese women are arriving here, presumably to settle in the country. As an example, there were nine married Chinese women among the first saloon passengers who arrived. from Sydney by the Moeraki on Tuesday. Their names were Mesdames Ah Nin, Ching Wai, Tse Sze, Nya» Sze, Tung Ming, Lun Fung Ho, Yu Sok Ying, Lin'Tun Shun, and Chow Tai. An inquiry was made from the Collector of Customs as to whether the new arrivals had successfully passed the education test. The official said that he was unable to supply such information, instructions having been given him to that effect.
