The Waikato Independent. TUESDAY, APRIL 17, 1917. ANZAC ANNIVERSARY.
It will be a pity if the- Anzae Anniversary meeting in Cambridge on the 25th inst. cannot be so arranged that all the territorials in camp can attend. The Town Hall would obviously not be large enough for the purpose of accommodating all the men in khaki and.; all those of the public who would like to be present, and the alternative to debarring some from attending is an openair gathering. There are many objections to an open-air meeting, one of' the principal being the difficulty of speaking’effectively to a large audience out of doors. Against this disadvantage, it is desirable that the gathering should be as large and representative as possible, and the attendance of a large number of men in uniform would add to the impressiveness of the meeting. The. men now undergoing territorial training will be the soldiers •of New Zealand in the near future,.nnd it would be only fitting that they should attend to help do honour to the Dominion’s heroes who performed so valorously on the Peninsula.
