CAPTURE OF TREBIZOND.
GRAND DUKE’S EASTER PRESENT TO HIS COUNTRYMEN.
PETROGRAD, April 19,
A eo’mmunique states the efforts by the Caucasian army and the Black hiea’ fleet have, been crowned by the capture of Trebizond and most important fortifications of Anatalian Coast. After sanguinary battle on April 14, our troops pressed the Turks with'--it respite, overcoming incredible difficulties, and everywhere shattering the most obstinate resistance. The cc-oper-ation of the fleet permitted us to effect a very daring landing in support of the troops' heroic exploits of the Caucasian army operating inland, facilitating the success of the troops on the coast.
The capture of Trehizond proves to be Grand Duke Nicholas- Easter present to his countrymen. Long converging roads will enable the Russians to turn the whole front lo the Erzingan centre of fhe main Turkish concentration. The possibility of revictualling the armies by s- a instead of by difficult mountain deOlea, will euor mously lighten the Russian commissariat. Meanwhile the roads are being improved and the railway is being constructed from Sarikamish to Kiwirram.
