All went well for a minute or two. and all parties were keenly interested in the proceedings whan the horse caught the trooper bending and gave him a decided nip. ..The sufferer straightway bolted for his tent to determine the extent of the damage, and left others to look', after the horse. Yesterday morning .and again this morning upwards of 500 mounted, men passed, through the streets of Cambridge bound for the rifle range, where they received instruction in musketry and squadron t ainingThe rat-tat’ of the rifles was heard in town almost continuously the whole day, and if sound goes for anything the men arc learning how to shoot.

The horses ridden by troopers, are of a very good' class, many of the mounts being' capable, _ k on appearances, of putting up■ fast times in a race; but quite a large percentage of them would undoubtedly prove safe and speedy conveyances in the hunt : ing field ana possibly "between the' flags” in a steeplechase event.
