The refreshment department at t he Chrysanthemum Show was well patronised yesterday afternoon and last evening, the ladies in charge experiencing a busy time in ministering to the wants of customers. The numerous small tables are prettily decorated and the first class fare provided conduces to increased patronage this evening..

Spirited competition ensued at the Chrysanthemum Show 'last night for possessing a turkey, the conditions being that entrant, who guessed nearest to the exact weight won the bird. Mr Veale disposed of £2 worth of chances and Mrs E. Souter and Mr Hewlett tied for first -prize, their guesses being B|lbs and 9i respectively and the turkey’s exact weight was, 91bs. A draw was arranged, Mrs Souter being successful.

On Sunday evening the people of Cambridge will have, the opportunity of hearing the Rev. A. Taylor who is one of the ministers of the China In-land-Mission. Mr Taylor is on a visit to Cambridge, and will talk on the work of the mission in China, at St. Raul’s Methodist Church tomorrow evening at 7 o’clock. Those who miss this opportunity will miss un intellectual .and spiritual street. , The Prime Minister, (Hon. W. F, Massey, P-C.), will address an Auckland audience in the Town Hall on Monday evening next, when he will reply to the, speech of Sir Josenh Ward, Bart, given last month. Mr Kettle, S.M. is to institute a searching enquiry into the matter and is likely to direct the attention of the Minister for Justice to the methods adopted by the police in compiling the jury list.
