FINGER POSTS.
To the Editor. Sir, Will you allow me space in. - your valuable journal to direct at', tention to the lack of sufficient ’ finger-posts at the corners of roads in the Matamata County. One instance, reported’ in the papers of late, was at Maungatautari, where a visit* ing motorist went some miles out of his way during a round trip from •' Cambridge through flora-bora and back to here via Pukekura, lam informed by one of the party that there is no adequate directing sign for travellers. As he remarked, “it is - ail very well for homesters, but ! < surely visitors are entitled to some ’ consideration-’’ The other place I want to specially complain of; is . where the road from Mangawbero . r joins the main Kaimai road some four..miles from the junction with the Te Aroha-Lichfield road* beveral, motorists have taken the wrong road, coming down the hill, and landed ' their machines into a deep creek, in- 1 volving expensive repairs—all for the want of a sign post! A bridge ■ ' across the creek mentioned is most ; ■ needed, but until that is built surely £ the local body will see to it that > | signpost, which would only cost about £l, is erected as a warning.-HE ' am, etc., MOTORIST.
