GAMES ON SUNDAY.
A PEER'S RECOMMENDATION. REJECFED BY THE CHURCH. . : ■ London, June 1. Lord Darnley speaking at the Rochester Diocesan Conference, proposed the adoption of a Catholic compromise between Sabbatarian and secular views. He urged that the Church should countenance recreation and games after morning service. Dean of Rochester urged that Sunday should be spent preparing for eternity, of which it was really a foretaste. A resolution recommending- the spread of Sunday recreation to the anxious consideration of the Church was adopted.
