ADVERTISING CAMBRIDGE.

(to the editor.) Sir, —It is refreshing to see that our Council is so earnestly progressive, as is shown in your report of last meeting. There is no doubt that the Council is wise to be prepared for the vast influx of population, which will descend upon Cambridge when the Trunk railway is through and Auckland goes ahead. A Town Hall will attract a large number of tourists and visitors, who will come from far and wide to gaze upon its magnificent proportions and enjoy the luxury of siestas in the shade of its inner recesses. Swimming baths will also afford another great attraction to tourists, after a long aud dusty train journey from the capital city. A dip in the cool waters of the Domain, after a ride in the water chute, will cleanse the tired bodies of the dusty tourists, and act as a tonic to their wearied minds ! But the Council should not put a brake on the chariot of progress. Why not petition the Government to lay on special trains to connect with Frankton, so as to cope with the immense traffic which will ensue when New Zealand awakes to the fact that there is a swimming bath and Town Hall in Cambridge, for the delectation of tourists and visitors. Surely the fertile imagination of the Councillors can also picture a Cambridge Wondertand, rivalling Rotorua in weird and scenic glories, on a scale which would put the one at the Christchurch Exhibition in the shade ? Why not provide imitation geysers, mud holes and hot springs, and engage a corps of Maori men and maidens to dance hakas! An endless vista opens up, before the mind's eye, of the progress Cambridge would attain under such a live and progressive policy. A paltry loan of £15,000 would soon bring it to pass, and Cambridge would then'be the best-advertised town in the Dominion.—l am, etc., Progress.
