The Waihi Grand Junction mine won gold valued at £75,832 last year. H. Pearce has challenged R. Arnst, the New Zealander, to a sculling match for £IOO a side. Another serious " creep " has occurrel at Newcastle, damaging the Anglican Cathedral. Lancashire defeated the New Z3aland footballers by one goal and six tries to two tries. The Webb-Tresidder sculling match, for £SOO aside and the championship of the world, takes place on the Wanganui River on February 25th. While engaged at torpedo practice at Lyttelton Heads on Monday, the Pegasus lost a Whitehead torpedo in the vicinity of Little Port Cooper. Several attempts were made to find it, but up to the present without success.
