AUCKLAND DRAINAGE SCHEME, (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION)." Auckland, This Day. MrMidgley Taylor, of London, who was retained by the City Council to report on the scheme of drainage for Auckland, recommends: (1) The amalgam' tion of local bodies with a view to the drainage of an extended area, making provision for a population of 250,000; (2) The adoption of a combined system with one main intercepting sewer ; (3) The direct discharge of sewage into the sea at Okahu Point, Orakei. The approximate cost of the scheme is £450,000. SCALDED TO DEATH. Botorua, This day. Eodney Graham, aged twenty-eight, fell into a boiling pool at Ohinemutu, last night about 11 o'clock. His cries for help were heard by the natives, but in consequence of the steam, some time elapsed before he was'rescued. He expired a few minutes after being extricated. Graham arrived here on Saturday last from Opotiki. His parents reside in Australia. MUSICAL SOCIETIES CONFEBENCE. Dunedin, This Day. Nine delegates from the Dunedin Society of Musicians will attend the Conference to be opened at Wellington tomorrow, to discuss proposals for the incorporation of the Musical Societies of New Zealand.
