ENTERTAINMENT AT PUKERIMU.

The entertainment in aid of a school library, which took place at Pukerimu on Friday last, was in every respect a great success. In the first part of the program me the school children were the chief performers, while the various items in the second part were contributed by the “ grownups ” of the district and some of their visiting friends. The proceedings opened with a piano duet by Misses Fisher and N. Scott, after which the Chairman of the School Committee, Mr E Fisher, explained in a few well-chosen words the purpose of the entertainment, thanking those present for their support. The following items were gone through in a satisfactory manner: “ The Scarecrow,” monologue, 'Master Hans Haeusler; “ The Daisies,” recitation, Misses Emily and Daisy Bell, and Jessie Wallace; “The Fairies,” tableau, Misses Una •Scott, Lola Gane, and Jessie Wallace; ‘‘The Little Eecruit” march, Drum Band ; “ Before and After,” recitation, Master Eoland Vickers; “ Air by Mazas,” violin and piano, Master Hans Haeusler and Miss Fisher; “Eing the Bell Watchman,” song, schoolchildren; “ The Stars” Fife Solo, Master Hans Haeusler ; “ A Mistake,” recitation, Miss Daisy Bell; song, “ Good-night,” schoolchildren ; “ At the Dentist’s Shadow Pantomime,” Miss Una Scott, Master’s Hans Haeusler, Leslie Vickers, and lan Fisher; “Britannia,” tableau, Misses N. Dixon, C. Bell, U. Scott, L. Gane, M. Finnerty, L. Bell. E, Speakc, E. Bell, D. Bell and J. Wallace. The following were the items of the second part of the programme: Selections on the Zonephone, Mr B. Stitchbury; *■ The Guard Ship,” song, Mr Boy Fisher; " Eothesay Bay,” song, Miss Clark ; “ Teach me to Eemember,” song, Miss Cubis; “ Doreen,” song, Mr Hooker; “ Sing Me to Sleep, song, Miss Sturges; “ Walking Home with Angcline,” song, Mr Eoy Fisher; “ The Arab’s Farewell to his Steed,” song, Mr Madill; “ A Latin Lesson,” recitation, Miss E. Sturges; “ Across the Blue Sea,” song, Miss L. Scott; “ Mary,” song, Mr A. Fisher; “ A song that will last for ever,” song, Miss M. Cubis. Eefreshraents were provided by the ladies of Pukerimu, after which the room was cleared for dancing, which was kept up with spirit till the small hours of the morning.
