THE GOVERNMENTS LAND POLICY.
ADDRESSES BY MINISTERS. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). • Wellington. This Day. Probably the Hon. Mr McNab will pay a visit to the West Coast of this Island before leaving for Auckland on the second Saturday in February. His Auckland tour will occupy 27 travelling days. The Minister hopes to be able to visit Hawke’s Bay on his return from Auckland. The Native lands aspect of the Government's policy is shortly to be tackled on the platform by the Hon. Mr Carroll. HON. MCNAB AT CARTERTON. ■ Wellington, This Day. Mr McNab addressed a meeting at Carterton last night. He gave a lucid explanation of the Land Bill, and asked the electors if they approved of the Government policy to strengthen the hands of local members in supporting the proposals. The time he said, had arrived when the responsibility must rest upon landowners which was now placed upon ministers to meet the clamour for land settlement. The meeting thanked the Minister for his address, and expressed the opinion that a Land Bill to bring about the desired change in the direction of the limitation of area, while offering holders lease perpetuity or practically the freehold of his land at the original valuation wav necessary, and the Land Bill was approved and the Minister wished success in his campaign.
