THE CHIMING CLOCK.

(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —In connection with the letter from the Chamber of Commerce, which appeared in your issue of Saturday, signed by Messrs Hammond and Yeale, the thanks of the community are due to the Chamber of Commerce for this latest evidence of their alertness to matters of public interest for the benefit of Cambridge, by undertaking to raise the amount required to enable us to possess a town • clock and peal of bells m our new Post-office. It shows also the faith they have.in the liberality of the people of the district by setting themselves such a task, and ib would be considerate to the committee who have to do the actual work —busy men all—if contributors would come forward and give as liberally as they can afford, towards an object which will mean a source of satisfaction and pleasure for all time.—l am, &c,
