Mr Cockcroft, general passenger agent of the Oceanic Company, who is en route to San Francisco, interviewed regarding the American Subsidies Bill, expressed surprise at the cabled report of its probable rejection, as Mr Cannon, Speaker of the Congress, had been under the impression, he said, that the Bill would go through.
