A young man named W. Brown, died'* suddenly at Dunedin. An annual closely allied to lucerne, mellilotus, introduced to Victoria by the Agricultural Department of that State with the object of testing its value as a green fodder crop in places where rape has not proved a success, has been the , means of converting hitherto barren waste into valuable grazing areas. As a plant for silage it has proved very sue- 1 cessful. _ The plant has taken so well : that it is growing luxuriantly on the railway tracks of Victoria, and it is stated that the Railway Department may cut the plant and store it in silos at intervals of every mile or two along the track, thus securing a, valuable by-pro. duct. Rheumatism. The quick relief from pain afforded ,by applying Chamberlain’s Pain Balm is worth many times the cost. It makes rest and sleep possible. For sale by Thos. Wells, V agent, Cambridge. 1
