Mr C. W. Waite, 'District Traffic Manager, was a visitor to Cambridge to-day. Mr J. E. Fulton, engineer for the high level bridge, is expected to arrive in Cambridge to-morrow afternoon. James Ross, Hamilton, has been committed for trial for perjury. Mr T. Wells, accompanied by Miss Wells, leaves Cambridge to-morrow for Dunedin, where he will represent the Waikato Archdeaconry at the Anglican Synod, which opens on the 17th inst! Mr Wells anticipates being absent from the district for about a couple of months. The funeral of the late Mr T. M. Brown yesterday afternoon was largely attended, despite the wet weather. The remains were interred in the Pukerimu cemetery. The Rev. W. Gow, of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiated at the graveside. The Borough Council is very anxious that all those householders, who intend availing themselves of the municipal gas ser\ ice, should apply to have the necessary instalment made without delay, so as many as possible may be in readiness to participate in the advantages on the opening night. ” A young man named Brunskill, son of Mr W. S. Brunskill, of Taotaoroaj was driving a team of horses attached to a farm waggon down Duke-street hill on Tuesday evening, when the brake of the vehicle refused to act, and the horses thereupon bolted, but were soon brought to a standstill by the workmen employed in repairing the bridge over the Waikato. The driver was thrown out of the waggon, but had the good fortune to escape °with only a few bruises and a slight injury to his nose. The Government recently decided, with a view of debiting each department with its own share in postage, that official stamps should be used, and the stamps have been issued to all the departments. They are'the ordinary issues overprinted with the word “ official.” Philatelists are informed that Civil servants are under pain of a fine of £5 for selling any of these stamps in an unused condition or exchanging them for others. The punishment for a second offence is dismisld.

Mr A. J. Edmunds, solicitor, of Cambridge, supplies us with particulars of properties which have recently changed hands in this district. Messrs Rowe Bros., of Feilding, have sold the Balance of their Moanavale Estate, distant about four miles from Cambridge, as follows : To Messrs McEnnis and Higham,' of Canterbury, 820 acres, for £7560 ; to Mr Robt. I). Fisher, of Pukerinra, 60 acres, for £685 ; and to Messrs Souter and Co., of Cambridge, 72 acres for £750. The sales were effected through the agency of Messrs Souter and Co.
