MINER KILLED. (I‘BK PRESS ASSOCIATION). Eeefton, This day. Jeremiah Grant, a young man, was killed by a fall of stone in the Keep-it-Dark mine at Eeefton yesterday. Deceased was a native of New South Wales. SOLICITOR ARRESTED. : Wellington. This Day. , Harry Francis, a Christchurch solicitor, was arrested here to-day, charged with the theft of £IOO belonging to James Henry Thomas at Christchurch, on 18th September, 1905. He was remanded to Christchurch.
THE PAPAKAIO MURDER. OAMARU,0 AMARU, This Day/ A bicycle found in an arm of the Waitaki River has been identified as belonging to the late Mr Rennie, the schoolmaster at Papakaio, for whose mysterious murder Findlay stood his trial and was acquitted. The incident has caused much excitement, and places Mr Rennie’s murder in a new light.
