SUDDEN DEATH.
The sudden death of Mr T. M. Brown, an old resident of this district, occurred last evening. Mr Brown had for many years past been employed as gardener by Mr T. Wells, and yesterday attended to his duties as usual. Not returning to his home at Cambridge West at the accustomed hour, his wife, knowing that her husband suffered from heart disease, became anxious and made inquiries at Mr Wells residence. It was discovered that Mr Brown’s horse and buggy were still in the stables, and upon a search being made round the place, the body of Mr Brown was found lying between the handles of a wheelbarrow, near a rubbish tip. It is thought that death must have taken place at about 5 o’clock, as Mr. Brown had watered the plants in the garden as was his wont previous to knocking off work. The remains, which were conveyed to Mr Dickinson’s residence, will be interred in the Pukerimu cemetery to-morrow afternoon. It has not been considered advisable to hold an inquest, as the late Mr Brown had been attended by a medical man. The deceased, who was aged 71 years, laid out the grounds on which the Government Sanatorium now stands. He was wellknown throughout the district and very highlywespected.
