CAMBRIDGE CROQUET CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Cambridge Croquet Club was held at Victoria Hall last evening. Present: Mesdames W. W. Earl, C. Hunter, J. Court, J. Hally, A. Bell, G. McCullagh, M. P. McDermott; Misses Langmuir, L. Veale, 1 Edmondson, and Messrs K. Court, P. Forbes, and C. Brunskill. Mr Forbes was voted to the chair. The balaucc sheet, which was adopted, showed:—Receipts £6l 19s Id, including balance of £l3 7s 7d from previous year. Expenditure: Working expenses £l2 8s 7d, amount expended on new lawns £49 19s 6d. Total £6l 9s Id. There is an amount clue to the secretary of 14s. Liabilities £6 4s 6d; assets £ll ss. The chairman said he estimated the . expenditure during the ensuing year at £35 to £4O. The present membership was about 80, but he anticipated that it would be largely increased when the new lawns were opened. Officers were elected as follow .-—President, Mrs Earl. Committee, Mesdames Hunter, M. P. McDermott, Allan Bell, G. - F. McCullagh, A. F. Stone, John Hally, J. Court, Miss E. Skeet, and Messrs Kenneth Court and P. Forbes; hon. secretary, Mr P. A. E. Forbes. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr liowe, for the use of his shed during the past two seasons; Mr Hewitt, for the use cf his lawns, in Queen-street; it being unanimously resolved to vote that gentleman the sum of £"2 2s as a slight acknowledgement of his assistance to the Club; the Cambridge 5000 Club, for organising " working bees " on the new lawn ; Mrs McDermott, for services rendered; and to the retiring president and committee. A motion, moved by the chairman, on ' behalf of Mrs Earl, "That the incoming committee undertake the management of the next social in May, the proceeds to be devoted to top-dressmg the lawn," was carried. Tire annual subscription was fixed at the same amount as last year, viz., 10s for ladies, 15s for gentlemen. It was also decided that members of the Tennis Club be admitted upon payment of half these fees. It was resolved to open the season on Wednesday, 31st inst. Mr K. Court was elected greens superintendent.
