A roller, used at the iron works at Cradley Heath, Stafforpshire exploded with disastrous results. A section weighing four tons was hurled several hundred yards. The vibration resulting from the explosion caused a chimney 60ft high to collapse. Two persons were killed and many injured. A man has just died through having two gullets; starved because his food chose the wrong channel. This is in striking contrast to the case of a man whose death occurred recently who for ten years had no gullet at all. Swallowing by mistake an acid, he suffered such injuries that for the last ten years of his existence he took his food by means of a tube inserted in his side and communicating directly with his stomach.
