The rumour which has been in circulation for some time thao Dr. Pentreath was giving up his position at the Government Sanatorium, has been confirmed by the announcement that he has sent in his resignation.

Mr 11. Mahood, settler, of Thornton Road, Cambridge, though still in a weak state, has so far recovered from his recent serious accident as to be able to leave the private nursing home in Victoriastreet. The Secretary of the Cambridge Farmers’ Club reported last evening that he had about £l2 m hand. Miss Gertie Campion, known to fame as a member of the Pollard Opera Comply* has put on some weight since taking up her abode at the Government Sanatorium, and no one would recognise n her the vivacious feather weight °who used to flit about the stage in “ The French Maid.” Judging by Miss Campion’s robust appearance one would conclude that she will shortly be fit to once more face the footlights. Sturges, President of the Cambridge Farmers’ Club, has tabled the following notice of motion : “ That the Club approach the Waikato Central Agricultural Association with a view to the amalgamation of the two bodies, and that the executive of the Club be appointed to meet the Association to discuss the matter and report to the annual meeting of the Club to be held on the 7th of May.”

Wright’s trophy was played yesterday and resulted in a win for Mr O. Robertson, the scores being G. Robertson 25, A. White 18.

The large show window of the New Zealand Clothing Factory, Duke-street, is now the source of considerable attraction. This enterprising firm has a most interesting display of the actual jerseys and caps worn by the members of the football teams who played against the New Zealand representatives during their Home and foreign tour. The jerseys and caps have been lent to the Company by Mr D. Gallagher, the captain of the “ All Blacks.” The jersey worn by the latter in the famous Welsh match “is also exhibited. Quite a large crowd of people witnessed the disnlay last night.
