RAILWAY SOCIAL

The winding-up social and dance organised by the Frankton Railway Social Committee, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the Huntly Disaster Fund, took place at the Town Hall], Frankton, last night. Owing to the energetic canvassing by the railway men, over 700 tickets were sold, and fully another hundred were disposed of at the door, so that well over £SO will be added to the fund. The fmiction throughout was the most successful that the railwaymen have organised. Although there must have been fully 250 dancers on the floor at one time, there was a singular absence of romping and horseplay, and as the vast majority danced well there was no crowding or bumping, which so often mars a big dance. Messrs Webster and Stevens' orchestra, assisted by Messrs Mcintosh, Lawn and Spiral, were responsible for the music, which was excellent through out. During the evening Messrs Halcrow and O'Shaimghan gave a double clog dance, which was enthusiastically encored. At the close of the programme Mr E. G. Brown announced that during the season the railwaymen had had several Bocials, rthich had been conspicuously successful. By this means over £7O had been donated to deserving causes, and he took the opportunity of thanking the public and his fellow members for the help they had given.
