AUCKLAND TROOPS
INSPECTION BY GENERAL GODLEY. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. Preparations for General Godley's inspection of the local contingents are now being made. The General wilt leave Wellington tomorrow, and is expected to arrive in Auckland on Friday, it is understood that on Friday he will visit the camp at Otahuhu, and on the following day will inspect the mounted men encamped at Takapuna. On Saturday evening it is the intention of the General to witness the night-firing at the forts.
The programme of training laid down for the Auckland force is being carried out faithfully. Toda;' the Infantry Battalion came ashore on the town side, and proceeded to shooting practice and field manoeuvres. The Mounted Rifles, who yesterday spent the day at Penrose, devoted today to troop and squadron drill.
