BOARD OF EDUCATION

At the meeting of the Board of Education today the following appointments were made: Miss E. Hawkes, teacher, Hinuera School; Mr W. S. Cook, teacher, Tuhikaramea Schooi; Miss 11. Gledstanes, assistant to Ohaupo School; Air L. T. Maxwell, pupil teacher, to Taumarunui School; Miss D. Green,
pupil teacher, to Hamilton West Sch'ml.
The following temporary appointments were authorised: -Mr A. E. B. Richardson, temporary assistant master, Waikino School, till end of year; Mis K. E. Boscawen, teacher, Kangiriri School; Miss M. E. T. Soppett, assistant to Hamilton West School. The board referred to the chief inspector the following applications for new schools:—East port Road, Kauri Falls and Turoto Road South, Waioeka, Wardvillo. Applications were deferred as follows: Mapui, Opahi, and Waikumete ("until site is available). An application for the re-opening of Te Pahi No. 1 school was declined.
An application is to be made for a grant tor the enlargement of the
school at Mahirakau, the committee being granted half the cost of feuc ing. An application for the subdivision of a class-room at Ngaruawabia was referred to the inspector. The question of selection of a school site at Kira was referred to the inspector, as was an application for the enlargement of the school at Taumarunui. The Te Awamutu school and residence is to he connected with the water supply. Trie name of the Te Akatea school was changed to "Glen Massey,"
