ASSESSMENT COURT

A sitting of the Assessment Court for the Borough of Hamilton was held this morning at the Courthouse, the Court consisting of Mr E. Rawson. S.M., chairman, and Messrs Darke and Mason, assessors. Mr Gowan, officer in charge of the Department at Auckland, and Mr G. W. Hyde appeared in support of the •valuations. The first cases heard were objections by the Borough Council to valuations. The objections were sustained in the following cases:— Lot 5. section 9G West, unimproved value increased to ,£3750. Section part 103 West, unimproved value increased from £9500 to £IO,IOO. Sections 434-5 and 440, unimproved value increased from £7OO to £845. Section 454 West, valuation sustained at £2200. Section 14 East: This was valued at unimproved value £6OO, and the Counc'l asked that this be increased to £I2OO. Mr Le Qucsne, the owner, appeared in objection to the increase, and he was supported by Mr Hyde, valuer, to some extent, the latter giving the value at £785, at which it was fixed. In the following cases tne valuation was sustained, objections being overruled: —T. B. lnsoll, part 114, W. • H. E. Tristram, section 42, East Belt; Tish, section 4a, East Belt; Mrs Jackson, sections 4-6 of 71-72; Thomas Nixon, part 263.

The following reductions of unimproved value were granted:—Gilmour, part 315, West, from £550 to £500; Bartle Lund, part 218, Claudelands, from £550 to £500; H. C. Ross, part section 1 to -1 of D., Claudelands from £350 to £3lO. The rest of the objections were struck out, there being no appearance.
