UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS.
In addition to the list of suecsssful candidates telegraphed the following Aucklanders passed in the last University examinations:— Bachelor of Medicine and t'achelor of Surgery.-—lrwin E. Paris, Roland A. H. Fulton, Frederick Cameron, Bartram H. Gilmour, Hugh Short and Charles E. Hercus. Bachelor of Medicine. Douglas G. Macpherson. The 1851 scholarship was awarded to Eric Oswald Hercus (Otago University). Free passages to England were awarded to Alfred B. Jameson, Auckland, and Bella Dytes Cross, Canterbury. The C. H. H. Cook prize in mathematics was awarded to William Morion Jones, Auckland, and the Julius von Haast prize in geology to Alban Charles T. Purchas, Canterbury. It was reported that there was no essay worthy of the award of the Habens prize. An engineering travelling scholarship was awarded to Thomas Dalrymple Smith, Canterbury.
