Received 8.55 a.m., sth. W~ Wos London, March 4. £ The Goulds (husband and wife), who were arrested for espionage, have been remanded till the 11th inst. Mr Bodkin stated that a letter in Gould's letter book to a correspondent in 1903 showed that his real name was Schroeder, that he fought in the Franco-German war,and visited most parts of Europe as a member of the Secret Service for a foreign Power.

Mr Bodkin remarked that Gould was a spy in Britain for many years, and had' told a former schoolfellow that he was an agent for the German Government.

Other letters in his letter book proved the payment of money, also a request for 200 marks.
