ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Te Aroha, Wednesday. Captain McDonald, of the Northern S.S. Company's steamer Rotokohou, was walking down a plank from the steamer Rotokohou with a bag of wheat, at l'irohia, when the plank shifted, precipitating him on his back with the bag of wheat on top. He was attended by Dr Gordon, of Te Aroha, who ordered his removal to I'aeroa. His injuries are inclined to be serious. Napier, Thursday. Allen Nicholson, aged 23, was driving a traction engine 25 miles inland from Napier, when the steering chain carried away, and the engine went over an embankment, and Nicholson was struck on the head by the dravvpin and killed instantly. Dunedin, Thursday.
At an inquest on Mrs Doocey, who died suddenly on Saturday, it was supposed as the result of being knocked down by a drunken man, the medical evidence showed that death was due to natural causes.
