The Porte's reply to the Powers regrets that "inadequate consideration" was given to the Empire's vital needs in connection with the islands adjacent to the Dardanelles, and the failure to devise a solution which might have avoided all serious difficulties, and adds that the Porte will seek the realisation of its just and legitimate demands. VenizelosL in giving his impressions of his European tour today, anticipated a modification of the frontier in Epirus, and added that the close understanding between Greece. Roumania and Servia would assure the maintenance of the status quo in the Balkans, and make Graeco-Turkish complications impossible.
